During these hard times the world and our country are facing, we just want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the ongoing support and always putting your trust and faith in Selecta Shuttle to get you to your destinations safely. While we may all be socially distancing ourselves from our friends and family, we are still standing together to beat this crisis and come out stronger as a nation. The best weapon we have against COVID-19 is to stay at home, wash our hands and be vigilant, kind and calm during this lockdown.

With that being said, we know staying cooped up in our four walls is challenging. There are going to be times when Netflix just doesn’t cut it anymore and those pyjamas you got for Christmas last year are not bringing you much joyous spirit. But hopefully, we can help!

If you have already binged watched the entire Tiger King series and run out of things to clean, we have come up with some creative suggestions to help you pass the time…

Embrace Your Inner Child

Adulting takes up most of our time in the real world, but since the real world is currently behind walls at the moment, it is the perfect opportunity to feel like a child again. Build that blanket fort, eat ice cream for dinner and blast that 90’s playlist without shame. If you have kids, grab some chalk and make some epic art on the paving with them. If you are really feeling energetic, draw a hopscotch design on the pavement and teach your kids how to play the game. If you need a refresher course, here is how to do it.

Virtual Quiz Night

If your regular trivia joint doesn’t offer this already, set one up with your friends and family. There are multiple platforms you can use to host this trivia night such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Skype. Decide who will be the quizmaster for the evening, gather some questions and don’t forget to add in some shots at the end of each round. Here is a great way to get started.

Learn How to Knit

This one may seem odd and a few may think this as a sport best left to the grans out there but this skill is something that many can benefit from. Winter is coming up and there are thousands of people who don’t have any shelter or warmth during those bitterly cold months. Now that you have some time on your hands, you can give back by knitting a few blankets for the community. We are not saying it has to be as perfect as your gran’s bedsocks and jerseys, a basic one will do just fine. Plus Checkers has a great selection of inexpensive wool that you can use. If you are keen to give this a bash, Youtube has an abundance of beginner tutorials to help you get started.

Start Post Lockdown Planning

This storm will pass one day and life will slowly get back to normal, and when it does, you want to be prepared. If you have just gotten engaged, use this to your advantage and start planning the details now. I Hear Wedding Bells is a great place to source everything from the venue to handy tips on how to pick the flowers. If you have been given the Best Man title, it is never too early to start planning the bachelor party! The same goes for birthday parties. Start planning the event now. Thinking about positive things to come will help ease your mind and get you excited for the great things that are coming your way!

Keep your chin up, South Africa! We will get through this together! Stay at home, wash your hands and don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back… you are doing an awesome job!

We can’t wait to see all you beautiful people again.
